Research and Data Initiatives
There were many initiatives for this year’s product release that centered around ethnicity and religion improvements and data validation. One area of focus was on Basque first names and surnames to further identify Hispanics whose ancestors originally hailed from the Basque region in Spain. The research resulted in finding an impressive 16X more Hispanics in this important group. Ethnic Technologies also focused research into shared East Asian names in general and Korean names more specifically. This research is significant since East Asians are the fastest growing ethnic group in the US. Additionally, there was a deeper focus into growing religious group coverage, including a 16% increase in the Mormon faith. In terms of data validation, we have been able help our clients evaluate limitations and improve accuracy of their self-reported ethnic data through this research and technological advancements.
