The U.S. Asian population is not homogeneous, consisting of at least 30 various ethnic groups. Many Asians have been established in the U.S. for three generations or more. Sustained immigration rates have contributed significantly to the Asian American population rise.
Asian Population reached 14.9 million in 2006. 4.8% of the total US population.
Between 2002 & 2020 their growth rate is projected to be 5.2% a year and by 2020 make up 10.2% of our total population. The Fastest Growing group by percent.
Over 7 Million Asians speak their native language at home. 88% of this group are either foreign-born themselves or have at least one foreign-born parent.
