1) Is E-Tech a surname system? NO! E-Tech is a rule based system that applies computer rules for first names, surnames, surname prefixes and suffixes, and geographic criteria in a specific order to identify the ethnic, religious, and language preference of an individual. Due to our un-paralleled approach, E-Tech can further identify individuals who also speak in their native tongue. 2) How does E-Tech compare with competitive systems? Unlike systems using either exact spelling of surnames or matching against nationwide lists precoded with surname technology or special subscription lists, E-Tech is a comprehensive analysis process that results with a higher match rate percentage, a higher degree of accuracy, and a broader and more precise breakdown of ethnic / religious / language preference classifications. E-Tech encodes lists of either individuals on a residential file or a business file, It also supplies separate codes for ethnicity, religion, language preference, and acculturation. Competitors may use approaches similar to E-Tech's or they may use simple geocoding systems but their results are no where near as robust. E-Tech currently classifies over 175 ethnic groups including African-Americans and 21 different Hispanic Countries of Origin. No other system can provide the coverage at this level of detail. E-Tech will match up to 90% of any list of legitimate names. This is higher than any other system. Ethnic Technologies has the finest ethnic researchers. Therefore, the E-Tech product will continue to be improved and expanded. 3) How does E-Tech identify Language Preference? We accomplish this by first identifying unique first names. For example, whether or not a woman named Marisol's last name is Lopez or Koslowski, E-Tech will say Marisol probably speaks Spanish. Second, E-Tech examines identified surnames with commonly used first names for each surname's ethnicity to predict language preference. For example, the surname Garcia is most often Hispanic. The first name Pablo is common but not unique to Hispanic. E-Tech will predict that Pablo Garcia speaks Spanish. However, if Pablo's last name were Debrito, which E-Tech identifies as Portuguese, we would predict that this Pablo is Portuguese and speaks Portuguese. 4) What methodologies does E-Tech use for Religion? As a general rule, religion is inferred through Country of Origin. Arthur Adderley whose Country of Origin is England is inferred to be Protestant because Protestant is England's dominant religion. An Iraqi's inferred religion is Muslim. However, there are cases where people with specific surnames are more likely not the religion of their Country of Origin. For example, German Jews. 5) How does E-Tech validate the data for accuracy? E-Tech rigorously analyzes all of its data using random tests, comparisons to primary data sources, one-on-one interviews with people of all ethnicities and religions, biographical sources, immigration records, and its own extensive research library. In addition, we receive feedback from our large E-Tech Users Group. 6) When E-Tech says it is The Source of Ethnic Data what does source mean? Ethnic Technologies is the leading provider of multicultural marketing lists, ethnic identification software, and ethnic data appending services. In fact, we are the Originators and Developers of Ethnic, Religious, and Language Identification Target Marketing. G-Tech is available independent of or in concert with E-Tech either as a site license or as an encoding service. Originally based upon preponderance theory, whereby a large database was examined for known gender identification, G-Tech has been extensively modified by Ethnic Technologies personnel to incorporate much of the research done on first names for the E-Tech product. The tables used in G-Tech now contain correct gender identification for over 409,500 first names including all the ethnicities covered by E-Tech.
